House Alarms

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I am a new budgie owner as of 3 days ago. I am allergic to cats and dogs and absolutley loving my very first pet, Boss. I have been doing a lot of reading up on budgies and every website mentions their sensitive hearing. I have a house alarm at home and am quite worried the effect it would have on my budgie if it was to go off especially when i am at work.

Any advice about this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Clare and Boss

It will be okay. Birds are sensitive to noises because in the wild when it because quiet it means danger. You will find that the more noise that is happening in your house the louder your budgie (s) will become. Such as when I vacuum, put on the T.V., even raise my voice Merlin tends to get into it with the argument (Laughing out loud). I am yelling and so is the bird. You may think it is because they are upset but it is their nature the louder you are the louder they are. So the house alarm as long as it doesn't go off all the time (which is not even good for humans) is fine. :D.

Check to see your house alarm is set up for movement of pets :D

:ygbudgie: Welcome to the forum, I am sure you will enjoy it here! Just make sure that your budgie is out of sensor range of the alarm. I ended up paying a fine about 7 years ago when my cockatiel wasn't locked in his cage (not my fault, my landlord's). The police attended, the neighbour let them in and Cricket was happily screaming his lungs out in synch with the alarm. So do keep your guy away from the sensors, I have rearranged my cages here and had the sensors reset. :D

I have put the cage out of the range of the sensors and can enjoy Boss without worrying about the alarm going off when i'm not at home. Thanks for all your advice :D
