To anyone who knows about Budgie Clubs, some general questions

 

1) I live near Liverpool in NSW, what would be the nearest clube to join?

 

2) Do all budgie clubs sell birds at their general meetings?

 

3) If you suggested an answer for 1, do you know if that club does what was asked in question 2?

 

4) How much does membership cost? What are the benefits?

 

5) Anyone recommend some good breeders in NSW they have dealt with who regularly offload some birds?

There are two , Macarthur at Campbelltown or Western Sydney at Blacktown , I would lean more to Western Sydney they meet the 4th friday of each month at 8pm Old Dinning Hall, Blacktown Showground, Richmond Rd , off Kent st Blacktown . R Wood is Chairperson 02 98343059

N.o 2 Our club on the central coast generally has birds for sale , Im not 100% on their clubs you would have to ask.

N.o 4 About $45 a year , it Gives you access to the clubs items , like Library and Trade stalls which sell at a cheaper price. You will also get a Magazine called the Budgerigar Which has info and whats happening on the show front . If you want to get into showing then this gives you the ability to purchase Club rings .

You can just visit at a meeting without joining and have a chat to the members . Get to know people that all have the same interests ( budgies).

N.o. 5 All breeders will off load birds and generally they will have well looked after birds . To find some respected breeders in your area I would try calling the chairpersons above and they should be able to help you .

If you are looking at moving towards breeding and showing Than one bit of advice , Take it slow I cant stress that enough as I have seen so many people come and go from the hobby as they get down hearted that they dont breed that champion straight away . Remember Its the love of the birds first . The shows , meetings , meeting people are just a bonus on keeping budgerigars . :wine
