Posted January 5, 200817 yr A picture of the new possible Cinnamon Grey TCB I bought, as requested by Kaz, not sure it is one, but bought on the hope that it is. Sorry not a great picture the flash took lots of details out. As I said not a great picture, maybe it's flight feathers are just faded for some reason & will moult out darker Cinnamon. What do you think? Some random pictures of some of my other TCB’s now flying in the aviary. All pictures of the same two birds, both hens. The Green through the wings is a show fault, some may moult out or intensify, only time will tell.
January 5, 200817 yr hi, i know this is probably a silly question but what does TCB mean? i am new to breeding budgies and i am still trying to understand the different varieties.
January 6, 200817 yr beautiful budgies. hi, i know this is probably a silly question but what does TCB mean? i am new to breeding budgies and i am still trying to understand the different varieties. no it isn't a silly question. TCB is short for the budgie mutation called Texas Clearbody
January 6, 200817 yr What a lovely budgie in the first picture, have always been partial to the gray tones. Lucky you!
January 6, 200817 yr Beautiful birds Norm and the grey is a stunner. Looks possible it could be a TCB but what do I know. Your instincts are very good, and your birds just get better and better day by day
January 6, 200817 yr Author Thanks guys & thanks Birdluv, I guess I should always put it in full at least once for those new to the forum…sorry Texas Clear Body…Lazy Norm …(Laughing out loud)… Yes Kaz I guess I will have to just be patient until it moults it’s flight feathers & if they come back dark…bad luck…might turn out a nice bird anyway.
January 6, 200817 yr Love that first bird. Question, are most TCB's Opalines, or is it just these 2? I am not overly partial to the opaline mutation, and others love it. Your opinion as a breeder of TCB's?
January 6, 200817 yr Author Dave these TCB's are only Opalines because the guy I bought them off & myself like Opalines. I think you could breed them in most Mutations, but I think mostly for showing they have only Normal or Opalines or maybe only the one class, so that's what most breed to win. I'm thinking next year to try breeding them in other colours like Cinnamon, I think I have a couple already, I think I read somewhere you can't show them, well I guess you could show them, but they would be up against Normals & probably wouldn't win. I think something like a Spangle TCB could look nice. Here's a couple of Normals & also Cinnamon, the young bird is from the cock. Edited January 6, 200817 yr by Norm
January 6, 200817 yr This is the Show standard for the clearbody, you will notice it only allows for the normal and opaline varieties, any other variety would not be considered on the show bench. Ive found the blue series in the clear body to be more visually impacting .
January 6, 200817 yr I was thinking about some of your suggestings. Yes, the TCB spangle would look cool. To me the cinnamon is at its most dramatic on a blue based bird, rather than a green based bird. I was thinking what if you bred a TCB clearwing, and the more I thought about it, i realised that it would just look like a DEC- (Laughing out loud). I love the idea of producing birds that are not shown. For example, the anthracite is not shown. Does that mean it would be bad to have them? No way. Keep going with the TCB variations I say. Thanks for the pics.
January 6, 200817 yr Norm they are beautiful. Your green one's tail reminds me of Merlin's always unkept.

Thanks for that Lonebudgie, even though I couldn't read it, I thought it was something like that.I'm different I like the Green series [Yellow] bird better, it seems I'm partial to Yellow birds with dark markings. Yeah the TCB Clearwing wouldn't be worth the effort, already quite a few completely Yellow birds. Even though some of the combinations wouldn't be showable, that doesn't stop you breeding them to enjoy the different combinations. Sadley the Anthracite is pretty rare even overseas & as far as I know not present in Australia, but someone could get the Mutation at some time, or import itNorm they are beautiful.
