What Could I Get From Them?

I was wondering if anyone can tell me what color babies I would get from a pair I have.? The male is a yellow/green recessive pied, and the female is a green dominant pied opaline clearwing. Im not really sure if the male and female are split to anything else, but can someone give me a general idea of what I might get?

you'll get all greens half dominant pied half normal...

cock chicks will be split to opaline

all chicks split to recessive

and i beleive with a dominant pied cross recessive there's always a chance of a DEC

and i know nothing about the clearwing gene but pretty sure it's a recessive gene so more than likely all bubs will be split to clearwing

any other pssobilities also with splits already in the parents :D

Wow thanks!. When you say DEC you mean dark eyed clear right? I was doing a little research on them, and it says you have to have a recessive pied, and a clearflight pied. I then did some research on the clearflight pied, and I think thats what my female might be. All her flight feathers are clear, and she does kind of have clear feathers near her neck and chest. Which it said a budgie usually has when they are a clearflight pied. So I think the Dark Eyed Clear is a big possibility!

Correct me if im wrong but can you have an opaline clearwing , I thought if it has opaline markings then it is opaline only , if it has no markings on the wing just body colour then its a clearwing .

Opaline is the reverse marking on the head and the V on the back

Clearwing is when their are hardly any marking on the head and on the wings

Clearwing could mask Opaline but they are on 2 different genus' so yes you can have an opaline clearwing

She stated Clear FLIGHT not clear WING. To get a DEC you still need 2 recessive pied genes so your girl will have to be split for that for any DEC to appear.

not anything about clearFLIGHT :D

Elly is right you can have an Opaline Clearwing...the Mutation Known as Rainbow is a YF2 Opaline Clearwing.

Also Nerwin is right about DEC you need two Recessive Pied genes combined with the Clearflight gene.

I stand corrected , I sometimes have to remember to seperate show birds from pet , especially when mixing varieties together.

:D
