Gday, i had a nest of 4 fledglings... one has come out...far too early.. and somehow their mother has disappeared... who knows how! anyway... 2 of the chicks have died .. and i need to hand feed the other two ..what mixture should i make up to do this please!

hi, i just finished hand raising 4 babies and i went to the pet shop and bought Avione hand rearing formula. you make it up according to the directions on the packet. my babies are 6 weeks now and weaned onto seed and they all survive on the formula.

Weetbix and milkarrowroot biscut mash to a smooth watery consistency this will get you by till you find some proper hand raising mix from the pet supplies , feed the mix to the young warm as this helps restore the babys body temp. :budgiedance:

There are a few things you can use until you get the proper formula. Baby food from a jar works ( vegie, cereal that kind of thing ) also baby cereal like mixed grain baby cereal that you mix with water. Best to get the real thing as soon as possible. Keep babies warm....a warm lamp nearby, or a container with a cloth over the top to keep their body heat in.

Are they crying out for food or too weak ?
