January 9, 200817 yr Two eldest chicks are normals. Third chick has a lot of yellow pin feathers on wings and tail. Fourth chick is still pink. Fifth adopted chick had to be put down as enthusiatic parent feeding broke its neck. Good to hear everything is going well. Boy it is either sometimes they don't feed them or they get so excited RIP little one On Nerwen's comments. Merlin is a show budgie (probably 1/2 and 1/2) and he is an awesome pet. I found him to be more layed back then Pretty my pet budgie.
January 9, 200817 yr Author Show budgie types or budgies with that in their breeding DO seem to be a bit more laid back and camer than pet types can be.
January 9, 200817 yr so is an "english budgie" a show type budgie and an "american budgie" a pet type?
January 9, 200817 yr Author so is an "english budgie" a show type budgie and an "american budgie" a pet type? An english budgie is what most people call a show budgie....except in Australia we call them show budgies or club rung budgies. An american budgie is ONLY called an american budgie in america...and they are referring to pet types. Edited January 9, 200817 yr by KAZ
January 9, 200817 yr Kaz, I'm so sorry to hear about the 5th chick. :rip: Andrew, The "Pet" budgies are the same as the "American" and the "Australian" types, in otherwords they are the smaller pet type that are closer in feather/size to the wild budgies of Australia. In America we tend to call them pet or American types. The "Show" budiges are also called "Exhibition", "English", or "Banded" budgies depending where you are from and who you talk to. I use the terms interchangably depending on who I'm talking to. (Just like here in America we also call budgerigars in error by the more common type of 'parakeet', although that is not an accurate term since budgerigars are a type of parakeet. Those of us who are aware of English budgies, etc know the difference but the majority of the American public does not)
January 10, 200817 yr Author Third chick in the nest of Curry and the Showgirl may be a texas clearbody. Its mostly yellow pin feathers with paler greyish wing markings so far and the two middle tail pins are darkish blueish. Fourth chick may be the same.
January 10, 200817 yr looking at the pics, does the skin colour indicate anything? I mean, it looks like a pied in terms of the skin colour. Is that possible?
January 10, 200817 yr Author looking at the pics, does the skin colour indicate anything? I mean, it looks like a pied in terms of the skin colour. Is that possible? Possible but no, not pied.
January 10, 200817 yr Looks like you could be right Kaz, about it being a TCB. I think their skin colour is lighter.
January 11, 200817 yr :budgiedance: the yellow in the wings does looks stronger than what you would see in a normal.
January 11, 200817 yr Author the yellow in the wings does looks stronger than what you would see in a normal. Fourth chick seems to be feathering up the same too
January 13, 200817 yr Author Fourth chick is a normal green as well as chick one and two. We have the third chick ...a texas clearbody. The two eldest chicks are quite a decent size....mostly hen chicks in that box, as my summer breeding is producing 85% hens.
January 14, 200817 yr Author Cant believe how fast these guys are growing. Bigger chicks than Curry has produced before with pet type hens. The two eldest chicks are large green hens. Third chick is a texas clearbody hen. Fourth chick is a green cock. Photos tomorrow :hap: Edited January 14, 200817 yr by KAZ
