Posted January 26, 200520 yr I have noticed something interesting with the birds I have that look green, even though they are blue. If you look at Mystery's shoulder, you can see blue. She's got it on her other side as well. I know she looks green because of the type 2 yellow mutation. Has anyone else noticed blue like this on their "green" skyblue birds too? Does it show the real color of the bird? Like, is that the real shade of blue she would look like if she didn't have the mutation? The other two birds I have that are similarly colored have the same thing too, so I wondered if anyone else has noticed it (is it normal?).

August 8, 200519 yr I know this is an old topic but I've been combing through this forum all night testing my mutations knowledge when I stumbled on this thread. I don't have a yellowface (let alone a type 2 yellow face) but I have noticed that Pixel (recessive pied) has that bit of color on her "shoulder" as well. For her it's green which makes sense as she's a green series bird. Piper has it as well and it's sky blue. She's recessive pied. okay, the only pictures I could find show only a little color around the neck area but I supposed that's almost the same thing.
August 10, 200519 yr Author Well, I still don't know. It just seems different and I had wondered if she did not have the type 2 yellowface mutation, if she were type 1 instead, if she would be the blue color of her shoulder instead of the greenish tint she is. Anyway, thanks for resurrecting the thread, maybe Pass or hath will see it and have some ideas.
August 10, 200519 yr Well there is no blue marks like that one Freckle or Marine. But they both have better/differant colouring under the wings. Freckle has some grey feathers and Marine a bright blue.
