Posted December 30, 200717 yr I currently have two females and one male sharing a large cage. For a while i had one of the females downstairs in a room where she was able to fly around and return to her cage when she wanted. I had the other female and male upstairs in my room in a large cage. They bonded and are very close. I recently had to put the other female with them after she had a close call with one of the dogs. They get along pretty well but i still have one concern. I am hoping the bonded female and male will breed this spring. I planned on seperating the other female from them when they started showing signs of being in breeding condition. But im wondering if i should seperate them now. Will she affect their bonding or prevent them from breeding ? Should i seperate her now? Thanks in advance
December 30, 200717 yr I dont think you need to separate now. As soon as a pair are in a cage with a nestbox, thats all the incentive they need to quickly bond and make babies. So, I would wait until you are ready and well prepared. In the meantime make sure they have an excellent diet and some additional calcium maybe in liquid form.
