Posted December 19, 200717 yr Just wondering if some of you could share with me the right things I should be feeding my budgies? I remember my mother only ever feeding our budgie a seed mix with the occasional cuttle bone! I've been giving my two babies and one I'm babysitting, some seed mix, a seed stick, a cuttle bone and some millet spray as well as some green leafy vegies. What I'm most interested in is what fruits and vegies are suitable, and I've also just read in another post about feeding them eggs.......I never knew you could do this! Any advice would be appreciated as I'd love to raise happy and healthy birds so I can begin breeding in a year or so. Thanks in advance! :feedbirds:
December 19, 200717 yr In the FAQ's under 'Food and Nutrition' there's heaps of useful information. However, the fruit and veggies my guys get a mix of includes: Corn on the cob (they generally go nuts over this as it's sweet), baby corn, grated carrot, snow peas, beans, broccoli, cauliflower, tomatoe, silver beet, banana and apple (NOT the seeds). Plus, I add vitamin supplement (in liquid form) to the grated carrots. They also get both seeds, pellets and sprouted seeds and occasionally as a treat, whole grain bread, low sugar cereal (like weetbix), millet seed, honey seed stick or an arrowroot biscuit.
