February 26, 200817 yr Oh by the way after I posted this, I checked on them and the second oldest also left the nest! One thing Im a little worried about though is that the female got into a little squabble between the oldest chick, and the 2nd that fledged keeps biting the other chicks foot. I was going to wait about 2 or 3 days to move the chicks into a different cage, but do you think I should do it sooner?NO...move the hen out.......and leave Dad to finish raising them. The hen is getting nasty as she wants them out of the way to breed again. Move her out so she does not attack her own chicks. If they try and get back in the nest box she may attack them.
February 27, 200817 yr Author Alright thanks for the advice. I moved the hen to a different cage. While the female was still in the cage, I have seen the male feed the chicks only a couple times, you think that he will figure out that he still has to feed some of the chicks right?

Keep checking their crops. Move the hen further away ( a long way away ) so the Dad isnt distracted by her calling him
February 27, 200817 yr You have some nice chicks there. If they get hungry they should be old enough to start feeding themselves anyway. Edited February 27, 200817 yr by Norm
February 27, 200817 yr and put some millet sprays in the nestbox. If you havent any, clean out the nestbox and spread some seed in there. :bluebudgie:
