Posted December 9, 200717 yr Coming up to the christmas break , I was thinking of doing some renovations to the avairy , I have finished breeding and culled my numbers to 50 currently , looking foward to the new breeding season with the new rings. So the idea was to extend the breeding room so i could actually have some room to move , Its currently 4m x 1.5m , Was thinking of making it another 2m wider. I also wanted to put in some pop outs to let the birds get into the ellements (sun, rain, etc) that would mean three popouts as i have three flights and finally wanted to put up some sails above the roof of the avairy bout 300mm of the roof to give the birds some shelter from the summer heat, these sails were to be removable so that in the winter the birds can get the benifets of the sun. Had it all worked out I thought until I spoke to my mum one night on the phone and she said why pull my avairy apart spend all that time on it , upset the birds and i probably still wont be happy with it , just build the avairy you have always wanted . Well we all know mothers are always right right ! , so it got me thinking and ive decided , Im going all out and building the avairy of my dreams. Being a builder its not going to be to hard its finding the time . So this avairy is going to be built from the same construction as my house and garage and will hav all the usual things ( power, water, ducted vac system and plenty of bench and cupboard space). The plan so far is to have a 6m x 4m building , inside this will be three flights 2.75m x 1.2m with popouts outside of the building of 1m x1.2wide. This will leave a breeding room of 2.75m x 4m , im hopeing this will be big enough , I use 18 breeding cabinets which is more than enough as it comes down to time management and being able to provide the best care for the birds ive got . Im still planning but very excited , if anyone has any ideas they wished they had done at the beginning of their avaries could you let me know as im open to all suggestions before building this dream. :angel1: Thanks mum , they do have good ideas!
December 9, 200717 yr `Sounds good, love to see some pics when its done as i too am planning a new setup
December 9, 200717 yr Sounds great I am in the middle of a rebuild too. Waiting for the new slab to be poured for the birdroom 5m by 4m. Off the end of that will be three flights of 4m by 2m each. I was going to do ducted vacuum system too, but recently bought a SHOPVAC brand vacuum and its brilliant so I wont need the ducted system. Cant wait for all mine to change either
December 10, 200717 yr cant wait to see these masterpieces- I'm having to think of a design for our new house next year as well. Knowing it will be there for a while you try to get these things right!!
