Posted December 6, 200717 yr I'd like to know what colours/mutations my budgies are. So I did my best today to get some photos, forgive the quality, it's hard to keep aviary birds still! I've posted pics of some of them before, but not all. Papaya- http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa184/r...irds/papaya.jpg Mango- http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa184/r...Birds/mango.jpg Lychee- http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa184/r...irds/lychee.jpg Lime- http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa184/r.../Birds/lime.jpg Guava- http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa184/r...Birds/guava.jpg Grapefruit- http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa184/r.../grapefruit.jpg Grape- http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa184/r...irds/grape1.jpg Cherry- http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa184/r...irds/cherry.jpg Avocado- (I know he's normal green, just adding him so he doesn't feel left out ) http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa184/r...rds/avocado.jpg And, what colours/mutations would I get if I paired Papaya with Cherry or Mango? (sorry about the sizes, I tried to resize but it didn't work..) Edited December 7, 200717 yr by Elly many pictures were over the board guidelines so I put them all as links, you can resize to 450x450 or leave as it :D). thank you for your understanding
December 6, 200717 yr Papaya - greywing cobalt opaline Mango - Greywing sky/cobalt Lychee - YF2 something :S ? possibly a DEC? Lime - some kind of clearwing ? Guava - YF2 opaline Grapefruite - YF2 spangle Grape - YF2 opaline spangle Cherry- Greywing sky opaline Gorgeous birds i love the greywing opalines Papaya and cherry would give you opalines of both sex greywings and normals all of blue series... pairing him to mango would give you the same outcomes different percentages... i think for memory of pairings
December 6, 200717 yr Author Thanks for that Grape and Grapefruit are the parents on Guava and Lychee, if that helps to determine Lychee..?
December 6, 200717 yr Papaya…Greywing Cobalt Spangle. Mango…Greywing Sky or Cobalt…not clear picture. Lychee…Creamino…YF2 Albino. Lime…all I can guess is Clearwing also. Guava…YF2 Opaline Cobalt. Grapefruit…YF2 Opaline Spangle, Grape…YF2 Opaline, Spangle, Blue or Parblue [part blue part green] Cherry…Opaline, Spangle, Cobalt. Avocado…Cinnamon wing Light Green. Papaya & Cherry….Greywings & Greywing Spangles cocks would be split for Opaline. Papaya & Maongo…Greywings & Greywing Spangles, some Opaline hens if Papaya is split for Oplaine as I don’t think he is Opaline, but has some Blue through his wing which could mean he is split for Opaline
December 6, 200717 yr Author Lychee…Creamino…YF2 Albino. Avocado…Cinnamon wing Light Green. Lychee has black eyes, doesn't creamino have red eyes? And Avocado, I was certain he is a normal green
December 7, 200717 yr If the YF spangle and the Yf spangle opaline are the parents and the bird clearly doesnt have red eyes, i wonder if it's possible to get a YF2 DF spangle in the blue series? anyone? Avacado i'm not positive on either... he looks slightly brown yet then also looks black... he doesnt look like my cinnamon normal but then again they all come in different intensities... do you have anymore pics of him ?
December 7, 200717 yr Agree with that parentage know she has to be YF DF spangle (if oyu look close there are lines picked up from the flash in the spangle lines) Papaya - greywing cobalt opaline Mango - Clearwing cobalt Lychee - YF DF spangle Lime - clearwing opaline green Guava - YF2 opaline Grapefruite - YF2 spangle Grape - YF2 opaline spangle Cherry- Greywing sky opaline Avocado- looks cinnamon to me too.
December 7, 200717 yr Author More of Avocado- http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa184/r...s/avocado-1.jpg Edited December 7, 200717 yr by Elly the last picture is over the boardguidelines of 450x450, you can resize or leave as a link, thank you for understanding
December 7, 200717 yr he still looks brown in both of those pictures so it seems you have a cinnamon there.
December 8, 200717 yr Author Cool! So, how do I breed more cinnamons? Breed him to a cinnamon hen? Elly, thanks for linking the pics
December 8, 200717 yr Cinnamon is a sex-linked gene If your male is a cinnamon or split to cinnamon he will give his gene to any females he has (if you breed him to a nomal) any males would be normals. To get 100% cinnamons yes breeding him to another cinnamon hen would ensure your results.
December 8, 200717 yr a Cinnamon male will give the gene to ALL his kid, the hens will show as cinnamon the males will be split.
December 9, 200717 yr Author So I can breed him to any of my hens and get cinnamons? I was thinking of breeding him to Lime, just because she is green too, and they have already paired up in the aviary. Or would any of my other hens be a better match?
December 9, 200717 yr any cinnamons you have will be females you won't have any male cinnamon they will all be split to cinnamon but won't be visual make sure you write this in the records so you know that for the males .
