Posted December 5, 200717 yr Does anyone grow Trill seed to feed to their birds and do they like it? I only ask because my aunty told me that years ago when they had budgies this is what they use to do. Aswell as giving them seed etc they use to get a small pot and grow Trill like you would grow mustard and cress seeds, in a pot on a layer of kitchen paper and the budgies would feast on the growth. Is this something to try..you help appreciated. Thanks Edited December 5, 200717 yr by lisa
December 7, 200717 yr I have a large pot where we throw seed and let it grow. We often pick seeded grasses from this pot to feed to the birds
December 8, 200717 yr I often throw left over seed onto the grass and pick it for the birds once it's grown. It would work just as well in a pot, and i'm sure your budgies would love it.
December 12, 200717 yr Author I dought, that trill will grow.I think its treated & wont grow. The good news is, Trill does grow...tried it but wasn't sure about feeding it to the birds...will try now..thanks
December 12, 200717 yr Trill in the UK & Trill in OZ, especially with the drought would be two different things, as lots of seed here has been imported & I have heard the rumour that it has been irradiated to get it into the country…don’t know if that’s true but something must have been done to let it in I would think & irradiated seed is dead so no chance of that sprouting. But sprouted seed where possible is good for birds & they certainly enjoy it & is definitely good for birds feeding young.
December 12, 200717 yr Iam sure what your saying Norm is correct.I spread the cleaning in the paddock when I clean out & not much come up in the paddock, that has anything to do with budgie seed.
