been reading on your forums about budgie varieties and would like to know what type of budgies i own. helping me learn more about the mutations would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou in advance

thank you for the information but what does type 2 mean. Next year sly will be old enough to breed with but if i breed her with romeo who she seems to be very fond of will get yellow face babies.

Type 1 - yellow is restricted to the face area only

Type 2 - yellow is on the face and can bleed throughout the chest and body area as they molt out during their first year the yellow bleed usually becomes strong throughout the body and sometimes the YF2 gene can turn a blue bird green making it difficult at times to decifer if you have a true green bird.

 

With this pair your expections are

50% spangles

50% normal patterns

100% yellow face babies

100 Blue Babies

 

All the above can be combined example you can gey a spangle yellowface

 

They will all be type 2.

not 100% yellow face. You can still get normals with that mating (no YF)
