New Aviary

I finally got my new budgie aviary!! We have been talking about it and planning it for a while, but life is very hectic for us at the moment. My wonderful fiance spent almost all weekend concreting the slab and putting up the new aviary. (I helped but he is the brains and brawn behind all the tuff stuff). The aviary is 2.27 long with a divider in the middle and 1.53 deep and 1.83 high. One side is for baby budgies and the other side is for non breeding birds so that we can get the breeding boxes out of the big aviary. Once all the birds in the big aviary that are currently breeding have finished, we will take down all the boxes, then let all the adult birds back into that aviary for free flight. The plan is, in the near future, to have an embankment of smaller aviaries to house breeding pairs, with two pairs to each aviary. So I will still be kind of colony breeding, but on a smaller and more controllable scale.

This is the new aviary, in blue.

Yep, they all seem to be happy to fly around properly instead of being caged inside and its soooooooooooo quiet in my lounge room with just Morris (my sun conure) and Saffy (my quaker). Even though they can both be loud at times, the constant background chatter is gone now. It was getting to the point that we were all competing to be heard!
