Hi,

Ive just had a Cock die for no apparent reason, ONly 18 Months old.

He was paired up with a Nice Olive Spangle and they had 2 georgous babies.

The babies just come out of nest one 4 days ago and the other 2 days ago.

Will the mother look after the babies? Or do I need to do something else?

Any advice appreciated.

Wayno

Are you colony breeding or cabinet breeding ? If the chicks have just fledged then they must be at least 4 weeks old and maybe older and trying to eat for themselves ? Have you seen them pecking up seed ? Does the mother look like she is feeding them ? Are the chicks well ? No poopy bottom ( indicates not eating ) ? Have you felt their crop to see if there is food in it ?

The chicks should be fine if in a breeder cage with the mother. I would put a tray of fine sliced green vegies, grated carrot, mashed egg, budgie starter and seed sprinkled through.

More info would help.

Hi Kaz,

They are ina breeding cage, the babies are nice birds, I have seen one picking at food, but not the other, The mother is very protective, does not like me at all, but she is a good mum and i'm confident that she will look after them.

I will check their crops in the morning and will put the vegies in like you suggested.

Thanks
