Hair Gel

HI, my budgie is crazy about hair gel. He likes to jump on my head and chew my hair.

It tha a problem? I read there is no alcohol in gel, but there could be other toxic things in it...

Anyone has same issue?

Should i let him chew it or not?

Charley immediately heads for my hair (pardon the pun!!) when he's let out of his cage... he also chews my hair, and I dont wear hair gel. I think its just the hair itself they like. Charley also insists on flying into my face, something I have not been able to understand.. I have to make sure I turn my face away in time.. even if he's on my finger, he will not be happy unless he's in my face or hair!! I would also be interested to hear if other people have the same "problem"... thanks for bringing the topic up.

I don't use any hair products that i would have to leave in (spray, gel, mousse, etc) because i'm sure it wouldn't be a good thing for them to be chewing. Personally i think you would want to either keep your budgie away from your hair (which would take some training by the sounds of it, hehe) or not use hair products when you're budgie is out and on a mission to nibble your hair. :hap:

I agree with Bea I don't use hair products myself but if I did I wouldn't have Merlin in my hair.

i agree, so many things are toxic to birds, better safe than sorry, boy i cant wait for my babies tobe big enough to get in my hair and cause total desruction in my house hehehe,

I wouldnt trust the hair gel. If the bird wants to be in your hair, you must leave the gel out. Or not let the bird in your hair :)
