An Opinion Please

I have researched various sites and would really like to know please... if Strawberries (washed) are okay to give my budgies now and then (occasionally!!). Some sites say yes.... others say no... can I have some opinions please?

I have a "food stick" on which I can thread various foods (like a kebab!) and wish to vary what I put on there from time to time. I have given in the past apple, pear, spinach, beans etc but how about a strawberry? Charley loves anything new.. (Max wont touch anything thats not seed!!.. funny how different they can be!!) ....I would hate to give something that would harm them.

Thank you in anticipation!!

I think some people say no to strawberries because very often they are treated with some chemicals (from shop) and they rot quickly. But if they are from your own garden, washed I think they are okay to give them. But take it away after a while, so it doesn't rot.

I give our garden strawberries to my birds sometimes and they like it

yes they need to be bought organically, I use it in the mixture when I buy some and they love it.

Thanks guys. I bought these at the supermarket so have decided not to give them.. would hate to "kill them with kindness"!!! I will look around for organically grown ones.

organic strawberrs from the supermarket can be expensive... and the lines for "organic" are so thin they can still have toxins on them theres no way to be 100% sure. the best way is to grow them yourself. strawberries are really easy to grow at home, ive got about 40 plants... i cant seem to kill mine.

isn't that the truth we have them too (Laughing out loud) they come back every year the key for us is to get them before the wild birds do :grbud:

Mum is fighting wild birds for years and the last couple of years she always builds something what looks like "an aviary" :(Laughing out loud): around the strawberries, so the wild birds don't eat them. But somehow they get inside anyway :grbud:
