Posted November 6, 200717 yr I have 2 budgies (a boy and a girl) and don't want them to breed. Other than removing one from the cage is there any way that I can stop them from breeding? Or do I let the hen lay her eggs but then take them away? Any ideas? Thanks!
November 6, 200717 yr Hi Koolmint, unless you supply a nestbox or an item they could use for a nest, it is highly unlikely that they will breed, even if you see them "having sex". As Kaz puts it, budgies do have "recreational sex" without producing eggs. They should be fine. Feathers. Edited November 6, 200717 yr by Feathers spelling, as per usual :) I'm too pedantic

The pet shop mistakingly told me I had 2 boys only to discover that "he" was a "she".
November 6, 200717 yr Budgies often have recreational budgie sex. Its only ( as Feathers says ) when you add a place for them to lay eggs and raise a family, that they go on from the budgie sex to egglaying. There are exceptions...but mostly thats the way it is. Cheers Kaz
