Posted November 5, 200717 yr As some of you know, I'm planing to have huge aviaries outside (indoor+outdoor). But as we are expecting a baby this spring, we probably won't be able to do it now . So we are building indoor aviaries in one of our rooms. We started yesterday - the wood construction is done, so it shouldn't take long :rip: . I don't know the measurements, but I will measure it and take a picture when it's done. They won't be too big, but as they are not permanent, they should be big enough. I'm so happy - I love arranging it - branches, toys, etc. Edited November 5, 200717 yr by Zebra
November 6, 200717 yr I'm eagerly awaiting pics! ditto [starts banging fists on table and chants] why are we waiting Seriously though, it sounds fantastic. I absolutely loved it when I had an indoor budgie room for breeding. Feathers
November 6, 200717 yr Author We didn't do anything on the aviaries yesterday as we came late from work . So the birdies have to wait for bit longer. But not too long - this weekend my husband's brother from England is coming to visit, so they will be two for the work :(Laughing out loud):

November 6, 200717 yr Author if i ask my partner about an indoor avairy/bird room she would shoot me :(Laughing out loud): My husband doesn't like birds at all, but he knows I would try to build it myself and probably hurt myself, so he is rather doing it for me . He is VERY NICE to me, I think no one else would have so much patience with me and my hobbies I just found out his brother cannot come this weekend, so it's just me and hubby - building Edited November 6, 200717 yr by Zebra

November 7, 200717 yr Author Good luck with the aviary, will be good to see the photos…maybe the brother heard he was going to be put to work…(Laughing out loud). :(Laughing out loud): He was actually coming to help us with fixing our house - he came over 2 weeks ago and did our kitchen floor and roof. But he didn't know about aviaries . But no worries - we can do it !!! It just needs a net and the doors and it's done Hopefully I'll take photos this weekend
November 12, 200717 yr Author Still not done , it started to snow yesterday, so we have to sort out other things now - so we don't freeze . But I almost finished the aviary roof yesterday - I actually enjoy doing it, it's not perfect, but I think roof (mesh) doesn't need to be 100% straight as long as it's safe My husband works very hard at work and fixing the house, so I thought he should have some time off and I did the aviary roof
November 19, 200717 yr Author Aviaries are done Here are some pics, they are not too good because we finished the aviaries quite late and it took me ages to get the birds in , so it was almost dark already. I think they like it, but they are still a bit confused. I had to catch each of them to move them, and as they are not tame, it wasn't easy job . The tiels were very hysterical and acted like I wanted to kill them. And a couple of the budgies bit me, so I had lots of fun :(Laughing out loud): But they seem to be okay. I had to keep the budgie's perches low as I have 2 non-flying budgies and a couple of budgies who cannot fly well. I will be re-arranging it all the time anyway, as I enjoy it :(Laughing out loud): The tiel's aviary is about 2m high, 2m long and 1m wide. The budgie's aviary is not straight, but it's about 2m high, 2m long and 2m wide on one side and about 1(1.5)m wide on the other side. Here is a picture I tried to draw Yellow - tiels Blue - budgies Orange - feeding platforms And it has big doors to go in and small doors for feeding. I still want them to have bigger aviaries, but they will have to be outside Edited November 19, 200717 yr by Zebra
November 20, 200717 yr Author Thanks I think they love it, I only have to work out what to put on the floor. There is a wooden floor now. I wanted to put sand on the floor, but I don't know how to keep it clean, so I will think about it. And I had one hen who has eaten too much of sand once and almost died. So I don't want this to happen again.
