October 30, 200717 yr I think you will find that she is a Fallow, as she has the typical Mauve check patches.
October 30, 200717 yr I have a cock the same as your hen and I was told he was a lacewing? Edited October 30, 200717 yr by Denise
October 31, 200717 yr I agree with Normthe fallow's head, wing, and tail markings are brownish. The body color is gradually diluted and is most visible on the rump. The eyes are red (some varieties do not have a pink iris, others do) and the cere of the male fallow does not change normally. As for your cock he does look like a lacewing because his body is mostly white and he has violet cheek patches as described. A suffusion of the body color is slightly visible in the body feathers. The markings of the head, wings, and tail show up as a light cinnamon color and the cheek patches are pale violet. I used to get these 2 confused so I could be off base but that is my theory . October 31, 200717 yr Author yeah she new i used to have her sister but she only recently died. she didnt have the lilac/lavender cheeck patch which i really like on my new girl
October 31, 200717 yr Sorry I made a mistake I meant to say she was a Lacewing not a Fallow. Lacewings have the Mauve cheek patches.
November 1, 200717 yr Author okay lacewing she is then, not fallow. thanks. so if she mates with this boy what could i get?
November 1, 200717 yr okay lacewing she is then, not fallow. thanks. so if she mates with this boy what could i get? Now that could be a difficult question…he looks like a Dilute, maybe a Black Eyed Self. Dilutes are Recessive, so if she isn’t carrying Dilute, you will only get chicks that are split for Dilute. Lacewing is sex linked, so unless he is split for it you would only get male chicks split for Lacewing. The same goes for the Red Eye factor. If he is not split for Blue I would only be game to say …some Green Birds…(Laughing out loud).

April 2, 200817 yr Sorry I made a mistake I meant to say she was a Lacewing not a Fallow. Lacewings have the Mauve cheek patches. Hey Norm ... I looked at the fallow section and they both have mauve cheek patches???? is there a way to tell with their tail???
April 2, 200817 yr Not that i'm aware of neat, but remember fallows have a concerntrated body colour section on their rump, where this bird only has suffision
April 2, 200817 yr I have absolutely no knowledge at breeding but arn't both fallows and lacewing sex linked? There are a couple of good breeading chart threads around... maybe take a look at those...
April 2, 200817 yr I am not into breeding the more "exotic" types yet but I would say a Lacewing. My main aim is to have a good stud of Normals, Opalines, Spangles and Dominant Pieds once I think I have achieved this I will branch out.
April 2, 200817 yr No Lacewing is a sex-linked gene, fallow is a recessive gene :budgiedance: I don't aim for best show type mainly pretty birds of all different kinds and mutations I totally respect your self control on sticking to your own seleted types Ikon, that i'm sure, must be very hard when there's sooo many gorgeous mutations and mixes around
April 3, 200817 yr That's funny with the fallow being rec gene cause there are 2 types the german and the English .... Via Daz Post : English Fallow, which has plum-coloured eyes without an iris, they are non sex-linked. The other is the German Fallow which also have the plum eyes, but they have an iris and they are sex-linked
