Budgie And Water

Featured Replies

Hello all, i am a new budgie owner of about 2 months now and i am enjoying experimenting with different foods for my budgies ( one male{ blue } and one female{ yellow }). They seem to take to some fruits but not others and the same with vegies. I have one seed feeder and one water feeder set up in my cage and i use a skewer to feed the fruits and vegies with varied results. However i have never seen my birds at the water feeder, i am sure they do drink or they wouldnt survive, but it has been a couple of months now and still havnt seen them drink. Is this normal behaviour or should i find a way to attract them to the water. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

regards

budgies get alot of their water from the fruits and veggies that they eat, it is very common not to see your budgie drink because they need very little water for survival (but always have a fresh supply daily). So not to worry they are probably drinking and quickly when you are not looking. I can't remember if I even ever saw Merlin drink water. I know I have seen Pretty though :).

Welcome to our site.

Elly is right also budgies like camels can go weeks with out water.. makes it hard to give medication in the water. If they don't like the taste, they won't drink it.
