We Found A Budgie

Featured Replies

So on Wed. mr b calls me when he gets home for lunch to let me know there is a yellow budgie on the patio eating seed thats been thrown from the aviary. He tried to catch it, but it flew up into the trees and was gone.

Yesterday he comes home & he's there again, this time VERY tired. Him & Kate caught him pretty easily. From what they told me, he dove straight into the seeds!

So when I got home from work yesterday, I imediatly ran to check out the newbie! Found out he is a she, and in breeding condition. She really isn't yellow, but more cream. the pics seem to show up blue, but its more of a grey. She resembles my nibbles quite a bit. I'm guessing its a recessive pied mutation. I have named her Lucky. She is very dirty!!!

I posted her on parrot 911, so we'll see if anyone claims her. If not, she'll be joining the flock in a month

Photo exceeds the board limit of 450 x 450 pixels, changed to link. Feathers.

I would probably say she is a YF2 Recessive Pied Cobalt or even Mauve. My birds are mostly good fliers, but it's a little too far to be one of mine…(Laughing out loud). If not claimed she will make a nice new addition to your flock.

Have the fires been close to you Buuzbee? Things are looking bad over there.

Thanks for asking Norm... it was pretty bad the first 1/2 of the week, lots of damage etc. Here a link to the pics, i'd have to resize them all, and i'm too lazy, so just click! (Laughing out loud) http://s12.photobucket.com/albums/a201/BUU...%20ANA%20WINDS/

There are NO signs up, and with winds blowing over 110mph, god knows where she blew in from! Shes really dirty and we figure its from the smoke. The sky is still hazey as of today!

Thanks for the mutation help! If no one claims her, she will have a happy life in the buuzbee flock!

hugs on the fires, my aunt lives up North so she is doing okay.

She looks YF2 Cobalt as norm said.

Check craigslist too in the pet section and lost and found I have found ads there and also on petfinders you will be amazed along with your newspaper and call the vets and let them know so they can post something. I am always surprised when I see lost ads for birds.

I agree YF 2 recessive mauve (since you made comments on looking grey as well) and very cute, glad she found a good spot for food :D

Hi Buuzbee,

that looks like a juvenile budgie to me... it still has barring close to the cere. It may have a brown cere but is too young to breed. Hopefully you will be able to find the owner.. she is beautiful. I am glad she survived the 'wild'.

Feathers.

  • 2 weeks later...

Well, its been 2 weeks yesterday since we found Lucky (or she found us) and no one has claimed her. She is not enjoying the cage, and spends most of the day calling to the budgies in the aviary! Poor girl, she can wait to join the flock! She seems to be a nice bird, doesnt freak out when i go into the cage to feed her. She isn't hand tame at all though. 2 more weeks to go!!!

I'm going to say Mauve, since she really does look grey on her tummy. Now that the dirt is coming off her head, i'm going to say about 6 months old too.

I need to get some new pics of her!

She's such a pretty little budgie. :)

I agree with Bea a very pretty one to say the least.

Looks like a Yellowface Type 2 Mauve not sure recessive or double factor dominant?
