Are You Sure Its A Male ? ?

Hi there,

I put up a post yesterday asking if my new 1st baby budgie was a male ( i included a picture ) The 2 people that replied said they thought it was a male.....

Now, since then I've been doing some reading regarding the characteristics regarding male and female behaviour ...... I read that males tent to make warbling, burbling noises, and females tend to make loud-ish chirping noises.....

Now I've heard my budgie make lots of chirping noises, but no warbling or burbling noises...... so i was getting worried that it might not be a male....... or do they only make the warbling noises when they get older..... my bird is only around 5 weeks old....

i also read that females bite a lot more, and mine hasn't bitten me at all when i handle him......so im confused now of his sex.I'm hoping its male

heres another picture to help you decided the sex again..im really hoping its a male

See picture

thanks

Jason

spelling and short cuts

Yes. Its a boy. We are going off the colour of its cere as we cannot hear your budgie's noises and I dont go off budgie noises anyway when determining sex of a budgie :budgiedance:

Jason,

it is most definitely a boy.

Feathers.

Your baby is brand new and most new budgies in an new enviroment will be quiet. I got Pretty very young and he barely made a sound until his 6 month and I am not kidding. He was the quietest budgie and never moved. All budgies are different so your budgie may be quiet or when he feels more comfortable he will starts to show his personality more. I agree with Kaz and Daz total boy no mistaken :D.

although the others already answered, he's definatly a boy...

but just to put your mind at ease, I have a boy (Roka) who acts the same way.. .he's very quiet and barely does anything but sit on his swing... I think he was scared pretty badly before I got him back in September, and it just takes time for them to get comfortable, some budgies seem to take changes easily, and others seem to be very reluctant to accept new environments or in learning to trust. My males also make alot of chirping noises like yours. So don't worry you havent' been told wrong.
