Hi a friend of mine is breeding budgies also,

he had 5 eggs four that looks fertile, some are due and one has gone a purply brown colour, you can easily see veins from just looking at it to.

is it about to hatch, is it off, is the baby inside dead??

It’s hard to tell just from your description, but if the eggs have gone too unusual in colour it has probably gone bad. If some are already due & haven’t hatched that may be the cause, but don’t be too hasty, leave them until they are well overdue, as if you do something too early you may destroy some good ones.
