Posted October 9, 200717 yr Hi All just a few questions on aviary breeding. Our community aviary has two beautiful chicks and mum is doing a great job looking after them and keeping the box clean. After breeding do you block off the boxes. Do the parent birds stay together and want the same box nextyear. If the boxes are left open will the young birds breed too soon. I know this kind of breeding is much harder and will try to change things for next year. David

Young and silly birds get the idea of breeding while the boxes are in there...it kind of excites them and makes them think of eggs and babies...even if blocked. They would find a way to chew their way into the boxes :rip:
October 10, 200717 yr i remove my boxes when i have finished breeding for the year giving them 6-7 months of rest before putting the boxes back in.
