October 6, 200717 yr hey all just wondering what age do you clean the nest box for the first time i have a 6 day old and a 3 day old in nest what do you think? maddi The nests start to get really poopy around the 12 day old mark, so I generally start around then. Depends of course on what nesting materials you have in there and if the chicks are mucky or not.
October 6, 200717 yr I actually don't clean the boxes until the chicks have left the box. I might add some additional wood shavings but I let the chicks develop a natural immunity to diseases. I do clean wet nest boxes and check why they are that way. I haven't had any though. Edited October 6, 200717 yr by Daz
