Posted October 3, 200717 yr Found one of our budgies lying on the floor of our aviary 2 days ago. It looked like it had been attacked as it had a nasty looking cut on the top of its head. Since then it has developed what looks like internal bleeding as both eyes are getting bigger and appear to be filled with blood. The head of the budgie has increased as well. We are hand feeding it but it doesn't want to take much. How it has survived this long god knows. Our local vets cannot do much for birds, has anyone experience3d anything like this before? The bird just lies in its box sleeping but is alive. Is it best to ask the vet to put it out of its misery or is there hope for it?? Don't want teh bird to suffer any more if its too late.......any help/advice gratefully received.
October 3, 200717 yr From what I am reading I would say if the vet (avian) vet can not help the suffering of this poor bird that I would let it go to rainbow bridge. It doesn't sound very hopeful .
October 3, 200717 yr The cut on top of the head seems to be deep and you have an infection, most likely that has gone to the brain ( which explains the eyes bulging ). This bird needs euthanasia as soon as possible. A quick trip to the vets to have the poor thing put to sleep
