Posted October 1, 200717 yr I have been given a great opportunity to breed some decent lacewings. A breeder friend and budgerigar judge has let me have a split lacewing cock of his and his lacewing hen. The cock has already produced lacewings that have won at shows so here's hoping. I put them together about 8 days ago and they already have 3 eggs. Edited October 16, 200717 yr by KAZ

October 1, 200717 yr Author Boy that’s luck Kaz she looks especially beautiful. Wish I had someone to loan me some nice birds like that. I paid for this pair, Norm, but at a very nominal rate. Not really what they were worth at all. way too cheap
October 2, 200717 yr Author Sorry Kaz, "let me have" I took it as a loan. As I said nice birds. Yep..I worded that badly. He was very supportive in letting me buy this pair from him
October 5, 200717 yr Author I hope you get some great lacewings! This split lacewing cock has consistently produced 3 - 4 lacewings to every clutch of five or more to a lacewing hen. Here's hoping :rip:
October 5, 200717 yr If you have 4 eggs Kaz,the first one should be showing if it fertile. : :bluebudgie:

October 9, 200717 yr Author 4 fertile eggs so far Macka. The dad is a cute budgie. The hen is a bit scatty. I have to knock on the box so she steps out as she kicks the eggs all around. The second she steps out Dad steps in and meets me at the lift up door of the nestbox.....he runs his head and beak along the edge as I lift the hatch and he nibbles at my finger. He has a look as if to say....my eggs....my babies !! Rob told me he is a great protector of the nest and his babies. He was right. He is such a character and sweet natured. I have called him CAGNEY.
October 14, 200717 yr Good news Kaz & good luck, if they turn out real successful maybe I will have to fly into the west next time you are selling...(Laughing out loud)...I have a brother in the west also.
