Posted September 30, 200717 yr On Thursday I bought 2 more budgies. Left them in a seperate cage away from the others but on Friday I have noticed that the hen has really runny poo, it was a light yellow but today it has gone a bit greener. Her vent is a very dirty greeny color. I have taken her out and put her in another cage to see how she goes. Sometimes she is fluffed up but not all the time. She is still cherping but just sits on the perch. Could this be from stress of moving cages or does it sound like something else. I will put up some pictures below.
September 30, 200717 yr :ygbudgie: Oh dear, behind doesn't look so good to me. Breeders should check in within the next few hours. Hopefully it is just from the stress of moving.
September 30, 200717 yr Not a good sign. She has diarrhea and is losing fluids. . You need to get a warm lamp on her and check to see if she is eating. Also feel her keelbone ( chestbone ) and see if she feels thin. I would be concerned about any of my birds that showed those symptoms. If any concern, she needs to be seen by a vet or go back to where you got her from for them to check her out.
September 30, 200717 yr Denise,Are you feeding a different seed to were you got them from. Were they from a breeder or a pet shop.

She is eating and have seen her drink a little this afternoon. Her poo doesn't seem quite so runny. I haven't checked her keelbone as yet everytime I go to open the cage she gets very fluttery and looks more stressed so I will try tomorrow. If she is no better tomorrow I will take her to the vet. I can't understand why she is like that and the cock I got at the same place on the same day is fine?? mackaPosted Today, 13:17 Denise,Are you feeding a different seed to were you got them from. I got them from Ivorsons Stock Feed in Newcomb (you would possibly know this place as you live in Geelong area). I have gotten several birds from there and have never had a problem before. Thanks Macca, I wasn't intending on going to the show this year but maybe I will now. No leg rings on this hen or the cock I bought which I thought strange and the others I have bought there have had them on?? She is much better now, no diarrhoea, eating and drinking fine and swinging around the perches. I have still kept her separate for know just to make sure. I've given her a bath this morning and cleaned her all up so she's looking pretty good doesn't feel skinny, so fingers crossed she's okay. Her mate is pining for her, would it be alright if I put the cages side by side or should I wait?
October 2, 200717 yr Good she is better . I think I would rather wait with putting the cages next to each other. Just to make sure she is okay and he can't get it too.
