Posted September 24, 200717 yr Here is the only chick from a pairing of two show types. Father a grey green spangle and mother a skyblue spangle. I believe they addled the other eggs and they were the type of birds to kick the eggs around a lot in the nestbox. Here's the little hen chick at age 23 days I think she is off to a good start.
September 25, 200717 yr Author Very nice Kaz....she looks to be a nice size...looking at the photo.... They say, in show breeding, that you have top aim for the chick being better than its parents. This one is. She is a good size so far, Paul. I removed her mother today and FAITH is being fed by her Dad for awhile. Mum can take a break before putting the parents back together for another try.

September 25, 200717 yr I put a nice Grey Green cock with a smallish Lutino hen…[the one that had all the Spangle chicks] to get some better split cocks to mate back to Lutinos next year to improve size. First batch I only got one Grey Green cock, but when I caught it up yesterday to put it into the aviary I couldn’t believe how big it felt.
October 11, 200717 yr how will a double factor spangle feather markings look vs a single factor spangle once she's older?
October 11, 200717 yr how will a double factor spangle feather markings look vs a single factor spangle once she's older? A double factor Spangle of the Blue series remains pure white all its life, a Double Factor of the Green series remains pure Yellow all its life. Single factor Spangles are Green or Blue but have Spangle wing markings all their life. The background colour of their wing is either White or Yellow depending if they are Green or Blue series. I hope that’s clear; you will find pictures of both here on the forum.
October 12, 200717 yr Author This double factor white hen chick didnt make it. Every now and then a chick will get "depressed" and not feed itself on its own. This was one of those times, and despite all attempts to assist with crop feeding this chick just died. Very sad But as Norm says in other posts some are meant to make it, regardless of what we do to try and save them or keep them going.
