I have just had a hen bird [opaline cinn greygreen] lay 15 eggs . She started laying her first clutch and i thought good its time to see if this hen will be good for a stock bird , as she layed i marked the eggs and checked if they were fertile , when the third egg was layed the first had started to colour up and i was happy , the cock bird is doing his job . So she keeps laying five eggs , six eggs , now im thinking this is a big clutch for a first timer , all eggs fertile . then to my surprise when the next egg was due it was there No 7 , now im looking to my other cabinets to see if i can foster out some eggs and i found a pair on infertile eggs so i placed No 7 in and removed one of the infertile eggs and she keeps laying 8,9,10, im starting to think she will never stop. She doesnt seem to stressed and she was sitting on the eggs that i had left she just kept laying , 11, 12, 13 , I just kept marking them and placing them under the foster hen each time removing on of her infertile eggs , as time goes on all the layed eggs start to colour up and are all fertile. 14,15 , It was at the 15th egg where i started to think that she will keep laying and she will be having chicks hatching soon , but here she stoped 15 eggs . I then removed N0 7 and placed it back under her to even up the nests as i didnt have anywhere else for these eggs to go , all up she was sitting on 7 fertile eggs and the foster mum was sitting on 8 fertile eggs .

Today 6 eggs under her have hatched and i have rung four of them , No 7 did not make it :angel1: , and the 8th egg has hatched under the foster mum, Only 7 to go , What a bird !

All I can say is.............CRIKEY!!!
