Posted September 16, 200717 yr Feathers and I went to a show budgie auction today held in Mandurah. There was around about 120 or more birds offered for sale, highest bidder wins the bird. The dearest bird went for $2,250 and another for $1500. A lot for around the $300 to $600 mark and many for the lower budget range at around $30 to $40 also. I came home with 5 birds and Feathers also came home with some "new blood" Edited September 16, 200717 yr by KAZ
September 16, 200717 yr What? No pics yet? How slack! I'm afraid I was slack too. I also came home with 5 birds, but no photos tonight... feet up was the order of the day. Kaz did much better than I... but I got what I needed for my breeding program. Feathers.
September 16, 200717 yr Author It was bedtime for the birds by the time we got them home. Better light conditions and a new day tomorrow and we will have photos. One of my new hens had "beetroot face" from her meal of beetroot and carrot earlier in the day. Maybe thats why I got her at such a good price?
September 16, 200717 yr One of my new hens had "beetroot face" from her meal of beetroot and carrot earlier in the day. Maybe thats why I got her at such a good price? Oh, stop bragging already!! She was a great hen that I would have gladly taken home! From a good breeder too, very nice pick up Kaz. Feathers.
September 16, 200717 yr A RED FACED BUDGIE that should have made her more expensive, not cheaper...(Laughing out loud)...can't wait to see the pics...I can't complain but, I bought a couple of new birds some weeks ago, one had scaley mite, a Lutino hen & a quite old but nice Grey Green cock that's quite old but is so active, but still you haven't seen any pics.
September 17, 200717 yr Author Well, here's my five auction purchases. MADAM a skyblue normal ARMSTRONG hen ( excuse the feathers...she has just come off the nest ) CEC an olive normal GEARING cock ROOSTER a grey green spangle/split danish pied ARMSTRONG cock CHUNKY a danish pied NORM WHEATLEY hen FANG a danish pied ARMSTRONG hen
September 17, 200717 yr Author mmm I like Rooster!! He looks like a dude Rooster is strutting his stuff around MADAM in the quarantine cage. He fancies himself a bit. He is designated for CHUNKY later on though.
September 17, 200717 yr Hi, no complaints about the photo quality please. : I took these very quickly earlier and didn't check them before throwing the birds all back into quarantine. I was very good and bought most birds based purely on my breeding program needs. I ended up with two Lutino cocks as I had pre-marked them during viewing and that way if I missed one I would have a go at the other. As it went along I won the first bird, but I couldn't remember which of the two was better, so when the second one came up, I got that too. Same breeder but different year, so it will be interesting to check their family pedigree's when I get them from the breeder. Then there are 2 good sized green spangles, one an opaline and both split for blue. The last one is a Dark Green of good sort, that I hadn't marked during viewing, that was revealed to be a split for Black Eyed Self, so I bid for him as I could use him in my BES breeding program. Very Happy. I daren't jokingly mention to anyone that his year was incorrect on the papperwork as the last time I did that it practically turned into a state emergency! Feathers.
September 17, 200717 yr Kaz gorgeous they look wonderful. I am sure the first one will feather up wonderfully in your care. Aly..love the greens the last green variation is beautiful. Glad you ladies had fun
September 17, 200717 yr Nice birds girls…happy little shoppers…I'm glad you got a split BES Aly, I hope to get some BES's this Sunday, from a breeder, he told me they are a little small but good colour, so I'm hoping I will be in the BES business soon too. It amuses me Kaz the way you keep pumping out those names, do all 180 + birds have names…they must have little stickers on their foreheads…(Laughing out loud)…my birds are sad, not one of them has a name. No, NORM, not all my birds have names. I give names to ones I can quickly identify. Some birds I have where they all look the same nearly dont have names
