Posted September 8, 200717 yr FINALLY I GOT A USB CORD AND A CHARGER & BATTERIES FOR MY CAMERA!!! That meens full breeding journeys and pictures regularly! :dbb1: So "Blue" my Skyblue Oplaline male has been around for a while since my 13th birthday I'm 15 years old now. I thought it was about time to breed him so I got him a mate in July form a breeder. She hatched on December 21, 2006 and I seen her father he was a Yellow faced Violet of some sort I can't really remember. So here they are I am guessing she is a Violet of some sort I know she is Cinnamon. Is she a Dilute Violet Cinnamon Normal? http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee18/bi...icture030-1.jpg By the way I'm not breeding them quite yet, I just put them together in the breeding cage to see what they woul do Blue went abosulty crazy and began the mating call and started to harass her as you can see. She looked quite interested but they have to wait to start their own family.... :(Laughing out loud): So my question is what would I get I already know they will all be blue, cocks split to Cinnamon and I will have Oplaine hens.
September 8, 200717 yr Joey, I dont quite understand why you and a few others who swear they arent breeding a pair "quite yet" ( obviously as this hen needs to both grow a little more agewise and she isnt in breeding condition ) ....... Why do you put a pair in a breeder cage with an open nestbox and then swear you aren't breeding YET ? Patience is key here Joey. :dbb1:
September 8, 200717 yr The hen is nowere near to breeding condition & it is pointless puting them in a breeding cage.Just what are you expecting them to do,tricks or something,They don`t need a breeding box to do that.
September 8, 200717 yr So my question is what would I get I already know they will all be blue, cocks split to Cinnamon and I will have Oplaine hens Sounds about right- also factor in the Violet in the outcomes.
September 8, 200717 yr Author She is in a cage with 2 other hens my male is in the breeding cage I'm not breeding them. My questions was what would I get. See here is her cage with the 2 other hens: http://s235.photobucket.com/albums/ee18/bi...icture008-1.jpg I just put her in with my male to take a picture...gees. I'm not going to risk her being egg bound and I do realize she is out of condition but in December she will be breeding. Am I right about her mutation...?
September 8, 200717 yr yep she looks like a cinnamon violet- the dilution might be from the cinnamon gene, it tends to wash the colour out of the body. So cinnamon violet hen X sky opaline cock (has he got violet in him too?)
September 8, 200717 yr She doesnt look cinnamon to me. :hap: I would say greywing. Edited September 8, 200717 yr by **KAZ**
September 8, 200717 yr I thought she doesn't look like Cinnamon to me either, but some things about her look Cinnamon, her spots & her tail & the effect on her body colour. The wing pattern is different...is she maybe a Cinnamon Spangle?
September 8, 200717 yr The wings do look spangle and I would almost say that she is but the tail is a pale blue not white as a spangles should be. okay had a closer look and what I thought where spangle like markings on the wings are in fact new feathers growing in. September 8, 200717 yr Author Maybe a few more pictures will help... She is for sure Cinnamon she has pale cinnamon markings, these pictures were taken when I first got her in july. http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee18/bi.../Picture018.jpg http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee18/bi.../Picture016.jpg http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee18/bi.../Picture017.jpg http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee18/bi.../Picture011.jpg http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee18/bi.../Picture015.jpg
September 9, 200717 yr Hey Joey are you sure she was hatched in December 06, because those latest pics you said when you first got her in July, well she still looks uncapped in a couple and by July she should capped for sure, Joey she could be younger than you think. She looks cinnamon to me. :hap:
September 9, 200717 yr This is a cinnamon violet This is a yours if yours was a cinnamon, I would expect to see the wings brownish not grey. So, I still say greywing. Edited September 9, 200717 yr by **KAZ**
September 9, 200717 yr l agree with Kaz. l don't see any cinnamon either, it looks grey. Edited September 9, 200717 yr by birdluv
September 9, 200717 yr Yes I would agree with Karen, in that last lot of pictures the flight feathers look grey as do the throat spots.
September 9, 200717 yr Author Yes I have a Cinnamon Violet, I know for sure she is a Cinnamon her wings are not brown but the markings are a pale cinnamon. This is a picture of my Cinnamon Violet Normal hen (she is a cinnamon I know it doesn't show too good but she is the difference from her and her siblings was a sure sign that she was cinnamon her other normal siblings had black markings. I don't know why my camera doesn't capture the cinnamon on them in real life they are cinnamon colored...AGAIN I am not breeding her yet she and him are way to young I just put them together for the picture. http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee18/bi...icture031-1.jpg She might be cobalt but...who cares. okay so this hen is a mystery I guess we will see what I get from her when I breed her, well teh breeder showed me the records and the band number she was born on December 26, 2006 (as he said). Edited September 11, 200717 yr by Nerwen picture over sized
September 9, 200717 yr Yes I have a Cinnamon Violet, I know for sure she is a Cinnamon her wings are not brown but the markings are a pale cinnamon. Joey....cinnamon budgies have brown markings, and not actually what you would visualise as a cinnamon colour. They are called cinnamon but the colour is brown. Your bird has grey wing and tail markings. If you bought her from a breeder what family history did she come with ? Can you be sure you have all the facts ? I swear she is NOT cinnamon from what I can see here. How does the Greywing gene work because the little hens mother I am getting I believe to be a Greywing Violet. So would she be split? She is a Cinnamon Violet Normal. Is this hen the same one you referred to in this post in August Joey ? Edited September 9, 200717 yr by **KAZ**
September 11, 200717 yr Author So I have another GREYWING! oh well thats okay, no that hen is not the one I refered to. I was refering to my little one the Cinnamon Violet Normal in the picture I posted. See her with my Skyblue "greywing"
September 11, 200717 yr oh well- she looks light cinnamon on my screen in the first picture. Sorry Joey I was wrong.
