hi guys one of my recent nest of 5 are fledging and i was wondering if you could help me out the mothers a yf2 recessive pied and father a normal green spangle split to blue.... of the 4 chicks with enough feathers to tell i have one yf2 spangle 1 green spangle 1 normal green but the last feathered chick is confusing me he appears to have alot of blue in his feathers around his lower stomach and legs but yet appears green on the feathers on his crop... his other sibling the normal green had a small amount of blue near his stomach and legs but no where near as much as this one... is it probably a normal green maybe split to blue or a yf2 but yet to develop fully? also in comparison between the two normals the one with more blue appears to have more yellow through his wings and the green colour that merges with the blue is alot lighter than the other normal green. let me know any thoughts on it i'd really appreciate it :dbb1: thanks guys :ausb: i'll try to get some pics later to upload for you

:dbb1: Don`t be so inpatient, give them time to grow some feathers & all

will be revealed,The last 2 photoes looked to be a greygreen & a light green. :parrot:

Agree with Macka- first 2 are green, next looks grey/green and the last light green. (are the last 2 spangle -cant see?)

The blue around the legs and vent is normal- alot of my light greens from a certain family are born with blue around the vent, legs and a smidgen under their wings. It disappears with age.

When you breed YF birds with Green series birds, I think the young [Green] that are showing lots of Blue around the vent, legs & under wings, are masking the YF & if later mated with Blue series birds are capable of producing YF Blue birds. YF is Dominant to Blue, but is masked by Green.

Not going into comment on colouring, (been done) but a very good example in the last photo of the correct way to hold not only a chick but any bird of this size.
