Posted August 29, 200717 yr a while ago I mentioned cooking up a budgie egg before and so this morning when I did so again I thought to take a piccie before adding it to their food for those that were interested.
August 29, 200717 yr So the yolk cooks normally, but the "white" sets clear! How fascinating!! Thanks Nerwen. Any ideas why the white stays clear? KathyW.
August 29, 200717 yr Author Any ideas why the white stays clear? No idea at all, sorry. It was a surprise last year when I cooked the first one. Jelly-eggs That's a perfect way to describe them, kinda felt like a hard jelly in the hand too. Edited August 29, 200717 yr by Nerwen
August 29, 200717 yr It looks so strange . Thanks a lot for the photos, it's good to see how they look boiled
August 29, 200717 yr For some reason I can’t see the picture? It must be just normal for Budgie eggs, Duck eggs whites don’t turn out so white at hens eggs when you cook them.
August 30, 200717 yr Greg boiled some pigeon eggs last year to see what they would look like and it is the same as the budgie, yolk looked normal but a silicone look white, Very wierd.
August 30, 200717 yr So why do you feed them budgie eggs, not just chicken eggs? Is it better for them?
August 30, 200717 yr Author I give them chicken eggs normally. I just feel instead of wasting the eggs by chucking them I can cook then to add to their fresh food as well. I wouldn't say it's better for them. Norm - are they working for you yet?
