If im rubbing my nose agianst a budgie's head, will it peck my eyes out?

Nope

 

Unlike insect eating birds with long sharp beaks our little budgie friends don't have the equipment or instinct to damage your eyeball. Now if the budgie is mischievously inclined (s)he can nip the bridge of your nose ... (happened to my sister). In theory (s)he could grab your eyelid, but it's highly unlikely. Because of the curved shape of the beak they need a ridge to grab - fingers are good but palm of your hand - very difficult.

 

All the same, as eyes can be easily damaged, and eyesight too easily affected it's best not to let ANY animal (or certain humans) too close to your eyes. But nose to beak with your budgie should not be too risky.

 

Insect eaters on the other hand, starlings as a common example, see your pupil (the "black hole" in the middle of your eye) as a potential insect hole that they will instinctively want to "probe".

I was thinking the same thing when Merlin is preening and biting my eyebrows but I have not ever had him try and poke my eye at all , just bite my nose (OUCH)

Thank's guys. I asked this silly question cause i had a argument* with my cousin the day before i posted, and my Aunt suggested me to ask other people so this forum came first in my mind.

*We had an argument about this matter (Bird pecking my eye out *rolls eyes*), and he ended up makign me cry and making him self cursing and smashing a door.

Okay, i just showed my cousin this post just then, and then he's like "oh well i guess it's okay to put rub your bird in your eye". ( :(Laughing out loud): *cough* cough* i don't do that??)

 

He wanted to know if you were vet or something KathyW, cause he said "i mean any one can join this site, i mean how do you know if there right", And then i said most people in this forum are pretty skilled. :hap:

 

But, by the way you type and all, you seem like a "pro" or expert*. And why would people lie right?, What kind of person would register to a budgie forum and post lies!! :hap:

He also said something about why do you always want to get into an argument or something, but what the , he started it. I know i can forget about it and all, but that doesn't feel right. I just want to prove him wrong.

The only eye damage i've received from my birds are when Bailee tried to land on my face - some nice scratches around my eye from that - or when Blinkie head bopped my eye ball. :hap: Can't say any of them have tried to gouge my eyes out, and i rub their heads and feathers with my nose all the time.
