I find that cleaning your budgie's cage daily, with fresh food and water, prevents most illnesses and also gives your budgie a healthier, longer life.

I was just wondering how often everyone else cleans out their cages :D

hmm bit of a hard one because i clean the cage everyday and then my mum takes it apart with all the toys every week and cleans it and adds differant toy and takes some away and puts new sandpaper in.

i change the sandpaper every other day, as my budgie is on his own i find that this is quite adequate. although if/when i get another i will change it daily (two birds twice the mess!)

i take everything out of the cage and disinfect the cage floor and all accessories and perches every week.

when breeding i use the deep litter method ie when the first egg is laid the cage is not cleaned till the chicks are hatched and the nest box needs its first change my flights are cleaned twice a week

Mine get basic cleaning daily, water changes several times per day, and a thorough cleaning with hot soapy water once a week.

:o I clean my cage once a week with warm soapy water i change water daily food changed twice or three times a week. I never put fresh food on old food blow husks off food twice a day and spray birds once a week as they don't bath in their bird bath just drink from it. :D

I'm more or less the same,a quick refresh every day and then a thorough clean and disinfect every week.

Julie, I take the same routine as you :bluebudgie:

I clean the bottom of the cage every night, give fresh food and water, then on the weekends, full scrubs!

Same as me really the only differance is that i let my mum do the full on scrubs (to much work for me, and normaly when i attempt it i cant put the cage back together so my mum gave up on me and did it herself)doing husks, maybe sandpaper and food+water is much easier to do for me :bluebudgie:

i clean the bottom once a week (big cage and grate so he never goes to the bottom) and i scrub the removable bottom tray plastic parts once every 2 weeks and the whole cage about once a month (the cage is so big!!!)

I clean everything about once a week, but I try to clean the immediate dirty bits every day. I have a slight problem though....Snowy always has to stay in the cage while I clean it! It's cos I don't have anywhere to put him...anyone got ideas? (I don't have another cage) Thanks.

I just "un-latch" the bottom from the top, then while Digit is sitting on a perch in the top half, i put him down on a towel (on the table). So he's at least got a bottom half. no chance of him escaping like that.

I clean the bottom of mine out every day as they both like to kick a ping pong ball around the base of their cage

i clean mine out everyother day.

i clean my cage 1 a week and change paper 3 to4 times a week depends when needed fresh food and water 1 a day and vegtebles 2

I clean the paper out 3 x a week, and the grate 1x a week, and taking the whole thing apart every 2 weeks.

I change the paper at the bottom daily, change water & remove seed husks 3x per day. Once a week I take the cage apart and clean everything in warm soapy water. :(

oh yes I did forget that I clean the water and food bowl daily too :D

:ausb: Change food, water, paper and treats daily, wash out cage bottoms twice a week (or as needed), scrub all food/water containers every other week and the actual cage gets a major scrubbing in the shower once a month. ;)
