They Have Pink Ceres?!?

Featured Replies

Hi

Recently I have read about recessive pieds having pink ceres only when they are male. I have some recessive pieds and they have pink ceres but I was told they were definitely girls. Here are some pics of their ceres. Any info would be helpful because we got them with two other males and they said they were pairs. I AM CONFUSED!! They are about 2 years old.

It would of been handy,if the photo was a little closer,to see the cere.

Pink cere's mean males in rec. pieds. You've got males there. :dbb1:

The top photo, maybe male. The bottem photo hen. :dbb1:

Macka, both of those photos are of the same budgie. The lighting is just different.

At 2 years of age a hen would have a brownish cere by now :dbb1:

I still can't see the cere much. If it's a bright pink/smooth cere then it's a male. As Kaz states a 2 year old hen should have gotten a brown crusty cere.

:(Laughing out loud): In that case I dan`tknow.

I agree with macka it looks like a hen in the last picture

the other couple pics above are too far away

it looks pink but a crinkly tan pink not a smooth bright pink like a male recessive pied.

We have our handly dandly FAQ's to help us out here with comparative pics

my poor widdle eyes were straining but it looks light brown/tan to me- which means girl. But photos are hard to tell
