Posted August 15, 200717 yr Hey all just a quick one, 3 of my bubbas have red eyes Any suggestions I am guessing it is from Margoos side as he is White with the pales Blue on his rump and we worked it out that he was an Opaine last time and she is a Norm
August 15, 200717 yr Neat maybe one of the parents is split for cinnamon, if so the red eyes will go black looking soon about 8 days onwards.
August 15, 200717 yr OR If it's a red eye for a ino it means they are hens and your male is split for it.
August 15, 200717 yr Is the father split for albino or lutino? that's right hens will be ino and cocks will be split.
August 15, 200717 yr actually cock CAN be split there is a50/50 chance of getting the Ino gene or the normal gene.
August 15, 200717 yr I have a sky blue cock split for albino that I bred last year and I have put him with a yellow face grey hen. I could if lucky get a Yellow face albino This is how it goes Sex linked 1. Normal cock x ino hen - 50% normal split ino cocks & 50% normal hens 2. Ino cock x normal hen - 50% normal split ino cocks & 50% ino hens. 3. Ino cock x ino hen - 100% ino cocks and hens 4. normal split to ino x normal hen - 25% normal split to ino cocks, 25% normal hens 25% ino hens 25% normal cocks 5.normal split ino x ino hen - 25% normal split to ino cocks 25% ino cocks 25% normal hens 25% ino hens I hope this helps Neat.
August 15, 200717 yr There's something special about finding a red eyed chick in a nest I cannot explain it. But I just got a surprise with a second chick hatched to a greygreen spangle hen and a grey green normal cock is a red eyed chick too.
August 15, 200717 yr Or the cock is split cinnamon and the chicks are cinnamon. How old are the chicks. *** Remember the golden rule... hens can't be split for a sex gene *** Edited August 15, 200717 yr by Daz
August 23, 200717 yr Author Or the cock is split cinnamon and the chicks are cinnamon. How old are the chicks.*** Remember the golden rule... hens can't be split for a sex gene ***okay Well the hen is a FULL ON OLVIE NORMAL and the Dad is I am guessing his paretns were an albino of some sort as his is the most white with the most palest blue through himThis isn't the best photo of them THey are the first 2 at the frontANOTHER CLOSE UP OF THEMDAZZ -The chicks are now 2 and abit weeks old
August 23, 200717 yr ...just to mention that no Budgie is split for Albino. Albino is not a gene it is a composite of the blue gene and the ino gene. If you get an Albino from a green birds then odds are that the cock is split ino and both birds are split blue. Edited August 23, 200717 yr by Daz
August 23, 200717 yr Daz, is it said that way because it is a sex-linked gene and the male needs 2 of them to visually express this gene vs a female that only needs 1 sex-linked gene to express the gene?
August 23, 200717 yr Daz, is it said that way because it is a sex-linked gene and the male needs 2 of them to visually express this gene vs a female that only needs 1 sex-linked gene to express the gene? Well that is right with all sex linked genes. But with an Albino you need the blue. The ino gene removes all colour except the yellow. The blue gene removed the yellow. On exception to this is the lacewings. The Cinnamon colouring caused by the gene with still show through. On The topic of Lacewing. I believe that it is a gene that a birds can be split to like the Clearbody. It is not just an ino and a cinnamon togeather. I think I put up some where the pairs for this.
