August 15, 200717 yr I don`t like anything in the avery, that can fray & the birds can get hooked up in& brake aleg or choak themselves.Ive seen it happen in another person avery. The bird got athread wraped around its neck.
August 15, 200717 yr Author I was wondering about the Macka, Iwill make changes straight away. :ausb: Thanks very much I had a baby last month got caught on the smallest bit of wire, the ring got caught, but cos we were away all day, by the time I found her, her little leg was almost cut off. :fearMacka, all threads are now chopped off
August 15, 200717 yr :hap: Yes, another WONDERFUL invention and just watch for the fraying which would mean time to remove it.
August 15, 200717 yr Ihope Splat removed it already.Things like that are dangerous, you can seehow the budgie is hanging by its foot.Just need another budgie to spin it around & 1 budgie foot tangled, budgie panicks, 1broken leg or worse. The other budgie get into the act & 1 dead budgie.
August 15, 200717 yr (Laughing out loud) i love the last one where you can see something coming Edited August 15, 200717 yr by Budgie's r cool
August 15, 200717 yr aawww she is gorgeous. Arent babies hilarious to watch playing in the avairy they dont seem to have that "who is watching me make a fool of myself attitude" *Must really put some new toys in avairy**
August 15, 200717 yr My birdies love dog toys too. They make really great cheap toys. I learnt the lesson a while ago to cut off loose threads on toys. Most rope bird toys have them also. I had to cut them off my circle swing, ladders and boings. Feathers.
August 15, 200717 yr Just a little add on to Macka's comments about the frayed end of the toy. I lost a very good show type hen on exactly that kind of thing. I found her hanging from it. She had got her head caught in it, flapped her wings which made it twist and spin...By the time I found her she was dying. The frayed ends had tightened so we could not even slip scissors under it to cut it away...although we tried desperately to do so. She died as we tried to free her Lesson learnt the hard way.
August 15, 200717 yr Come to think of it i've had a close call with frayed rope too. Little miss Akala once got her foot tangled in a rope toy, circulation was completely cut off when i found her, and i wasn't sure what would happen to that foot. But once i cut and unwound the rope from her leg, it was back to normal within an hour.
August 15, 200717 yr Author Thanks guys, after reading Macka's comment, I went straight out to the flight and cut off all threads. So now they are all safe, will keep an eye out for any new ones that appear,
