just wondering if someone knows how to put rings on budgies because i have a fallow in my avairy laying eggs soon and if i get any young fallows i want to keep them identified from the other babies so i can keep them. thanks

At 8-10 days of age.

 

Place chick in the palm of your hand feet up and head towards you. (Try to) hold the leg between thumb and fingers.

 

(Try to) get the 3 forward-facing toes together and slide the ring over them, let the 4th toe lay back along the leg. Using a toothpick or tail/wing feather quill carefully slide the 4th toe through the ring.

Timbo,Iam not sure if you have any rings.,as your not a member of a budgie club.

I would buy some plastic split rings.You can buy them off ebay in the pet section

or at some pet shops.About $5.00 for 10 rings & they will do the job for you.

Yes that's way I started out too, I got my rings from the bird club in Shepp, cheap as chips. 10 rings meatl or plastic for $3.00 split of coarse. But joined a club and never used them. :nest:
