New Aviary Changes

The shed has been emptied today in readiness for disassembly. Ken found 4 young rats :D in the shed. They shot off down a hole, but not before the dogs got one of them. We have set traps in the shed and shut the door. Hopefully they will return for their "PEANUT BUTTER SURPRISE" :D

Did the 'peanut butter surprise' go down well last night?

Be great to see the finished product- I cant even imagine what it will look like!!

"Peanut butter surprise" worked for one very large rat. :fear

"peanut Butter Surprise" - Yes rodent control at it's best. I have caught many rats with it myself. :fear

The new problem is we caught this rat alive in a special metal trap. Now Ken is putting off the inevitable "dispatch". :fear

5 mins in a bucket of water.. Or if you're like me. A 5 min trip in the car and let go free.. :fear

The new changes to the aviary have begun. The shed came down yesterday which has made half the space for the new birdroom. The aviary section next to it which used to be my main aviary flight, is also half down. If we can acchieve clearing that whole section by the weekend and digging in a soakwell for drainage, we should be able to get the concrete slab the following week. Todays weather is bad though...we have rain and thunder storms and hail predicted. Then the new shed / birdroom goes up.

The whole area where the new birdroom will go is cleared of the shed and the first aviary as of today. Next job is removing some soil and levelling it off in readiness for the first slab to go down for the birdroom floor. Then the guy who is doing the birdroom will come and do stage one...the birdroom. Flights will follow after that.
