Great clear photo. I saved it and zoomed in. Black eye with iris ring. Not albino. Definitely NOT DF Spangle. So DEC I guess :)

But they are not supposed to have iris rings Kaz or can they?

I think it will be interesting to see what the babies outcomes are because genetics is having some fun fooling us here.

The australian BLACK EYED SELF similar to a dark eyed clear has iris rings.

Could it be that, I was thinking about that variation and thought maybe?

Description of a Dark Eyed Clear

General body colour of back, rump, breast, flanks and underparts to be a solid and even shade throughout.

MARKINGS: To be absent from all areas

EYES: Dark with the absense of a white iris ring.

YELLOW (Buttercup): White cheek patches and a tail feather approachig body colour

WHITE: White cheekpatches and tail feathers that are white.

(quote from feathers)

so doesnt that make him df spangle:S?

okay... so black eyed self:S nfi what exactly that is what will the offspring be if he's that?"From this description, compared with that of the BES, you can see that the BES has an iris ring, but the DEC doesn't. Also the BES has faint body markings, but the DEC should have no markings at all."(another quote from feathers)he has no body markings yet has an iris ring... if he was a BES doesnt that mean he'd have some form of body marking?

Black eyes selfs are a rare variety. I dont know enough about them so you will have to do some research. By process of elimination, he cant be anything else.

isnt df spangle still an option:S? because it hasnt being ruled out?

If it is a black eye.

The offspring will be 75% blue clear flight pied.

25% blue.

Full list, there is 8 combinations.

thankyou macka:) you're way too good at this stuff:P

Your bird is NOT a double factor spangle...he has no blue cere.

The offspring will really help to pin point his type. I have heard of some DEC's getting rings in the eye. From what I know BEC's should have some faint markings still.

Black Eyed Self

Eyes: Dark with a white Iris Ring.

According to the description of the BEC it can't be it Description of Different Mutations this is from our FAQ and Aly had posted this back a few months ago.

I think the best thing you can do is wait for the offspring and work out the genetic :D.
