Posted August 7, 200717 yr Hello I have been reading some links from this website about nutrition and have read that we should be gibing our budgies legumes, i am sorry if this is a dumb question but should we cook legumes such as chickpeas, lentils, kidney beans, lima beans, soy etc or give them raw? Also do we give them cooked brown rice or raw? And do we cook whole barley to soften it up? And pea's-would they be pea's fresh from the pod or can they be the frozen variety? Any help would be great>thankyou
August 7, 200717 yr no this is not a dumb question, it is a very good one. for me l like to cook the legumes for them, l do the same with brown rice and also barley. l give my budgies fresh peas since they are straight from my garden, frozen is fine to give them once thawed but fresh is always better
August 8, 200717 yr Remember that NO question is EVER dumb, you are looking out for your budgies!! I am negligent in never introducing legumes to any of my birds diets, I am always concentrating on getting the new rescues accustomed to vegetables! :book:
August 8, 200717 yr When i give them to my guys i will usually cook them up with some brown rice and also some peas. Makes a nice healthy mix for them.
