August 7, 200717 yr Exciting I look forward to your breeding journals. You do such a great job of them...piks and all :hap:
August 7, 200717 yr My goodness time flies, I remember when you bred Berry. I can't wait to watch the journey
August 7, 200717 yr Nerwen remember you have the support of the whole club, especially Dave and I. Anything you need just ask. :hap:
August 7, 200717 yr Author Thanks all. The males where added about 3 hours later and i got some interesting surprises. Kree (grey-green spangle) turning into a huge flirting/mating machine. His eyes where almost all white and he was trying his best to mate while both cling to the side of the cage! He calmed down quickly which I was thankful for. The other was Thistle throwing herself at Squeaker, nudging and pushing at him to mate, which the scary cat ran away from As per normal Ringo is her snotty best with Poka but he is still singing away as always.
August 7, 200717 yr Good luck Nerwen for a great breeding season, I will be watching for the results.
August 7, 200717 yr Author who needs T.V. when you have mating budgies :hap: This morning Poka is still trying to flirt his best. Ringo actually laid an egg on the floor last night which shocked me. I know she was well bonded to her sire but her poops where not large as an egg laying hens should be. Squeaker is still climbing all over the cage looking for a way out. Kree might be a bit mixed he actually went into the box, Berry hasn't even done so yet, although he is still being very pushy. I think he needs to learn he art of wooing. Reepicheep and Kazza are not doing much she has looked into the box but he isn't trying hard to flirt wiht her the few times he has been told off.
August 8, 200717 yr Author Update: Poka is a Miracle worker. Ringo the cow that bossed the whole aviary and did not want a bar of Kree last year is already responding to his flirting! Squeaker has been removed after doing an 'escape at all cost' act and ended up hiding in the nest box for over an hour. At the moment Pie is paired with Thistle. I have since found out the reason Squeaker wanted out was to return to his love..... his mother The other two cages are not doing a lot yet.
August 10, 200717 yr Author  yep always knew he was a great buy. I've only made this pair for 1. stop her bonding with her sire and 2. give Poka some experience before pairing him to Elle like you suggested. She is a touch too young yet.
August 14, 200717 yr Author Update It's been a week now, cage one are not showing a lot of interest in each other, although Reepicheep does go in the box. In cage 2 Kree still flirts a lot and Berry doesn't pay any attention. Cage 3 Poka and Ringo are still bonding, both with enter the box. Cage 4 Pie and Thistle are slowly starting to bond.
August 18, 200717 yr Author Cage 1 - two eggs believed to be clear since the hen (Reepi) chases Kazza about. Cage 2 - second egg, the first was eaten by one of them. Again believed to be clear. Cage 3 - both enjoy spending time in the box Cage 4 - Mating seen today.
August 19, 200717 yr Very Good. I was speaking to Dave yesterday and he says that those Breeding Cages are waiting you when you are ready.
August 26, 200717 yr Author Update: Cage 1 Kazza and Reepicheep have 6 eggs, although still not bonded. Cage 2 Kree and Berry have 5 eggs. The first two may be clear but she didn't start sitting fully until egg 3. She is getting protective too. Cage 3 Poka and Ringo have no eggs. Still spending time together in box. Cage 4 Pie and Thistle have 2 eggs. Edited August 26, 200717 yr by Nerwen
August 28, 200717 yr Author Yesterday morning I decided to move Berry's (cage 2) first two egg into Reepicheep's (cage 1) box and remove her clear eggs. This was just in case of the slight chance that Berry's where in fact fertile. I have checked the eggs again now and found veins in Berry's third egg and the slight start of veins in her 4th egg. With Reepi sitting on 7 eggs all up (all clear) I will remove the fostered eggs as well. Still no egg from Ringo (cage 3). Thistle (cage 4) has three eggs but hasn't started brooding yet.
August 28, 200717 yr Like the game MUSICAL CHAIRS....but with eggs :ausb: I do things like this all the time too. Thats why its great to have more than one pair breeding at a time. It all helps :dbb1: Good luck Nerwen
August 28, 200717 yr Author Yes it is a bit, it gave Berry the chance to continue laying eggs with a better chance of being fertile. Edited August 28, 200717 yr by Nerwen
