Posted August 6, 200718 yr One of my older budgie (maybe, only a year or so) have been twitching her wings all the time. I am not currently taming/training her so she shouldn't be nervous. And we got her a bigger cage, approximately 2 1/2 feet wide. And she has had toys and good perches and food and fresh water and gravel, and a buddie to play with. She been with her buddie ever since she was maybe 3 months old. I don't know what it is that is causing it. Should I be worried about this??? Should I take her to an avian vet? Oh, I found a vet for birds that is only 30 minutes away (yay)! Anyway, what should I do? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
August 6, 200718 yr If she is just flying from perch to perch & while sitting on the perch she is twitching her wings, it isn't anything to worry about, in fact it's a sign of really good health & she is just bursting with energy. It's hard for us to be exact, seeing that we cant see the bird, but if in other ways she seems normal I wouldn't worry. Edited August 6, 200718 yr by Norm
August 6, 200718 yr Thanks. I'll try to get a video or something. But I'll probably take your word for it. They HAVE been very active.
August 7, 200718 yr Does she get to fly out of her cage for at least an hour each day?? This is really important to ensure she keeps her muscles strong in her wings.
August 7, 200718 yr Well...I want to train her, but I really need to find a really good, fast, and easy training methods for older more stubborn birds. So, no, she doesn't fly around every day, unfortuantely.
August 8, 200718 yr Don't know for sure but it is possible that a little twitching is just her part of her demeanor.
August 9, 200718 yr Budgies do this a few times a day to relive stress and my Louy does this every time after he has pruned him self and he does that a lot during multing. Nothing to worry about
August 12, 200718 yr they molt several times a year, usually they will have some light molts and one really heavy molt.
August 13, 200718 yr They moult a lot of times, Louy only has light moults but more frequently. They will moult beofre summer so they wont get to hot and before winter to get rid of the small summer feathers and to grow new bigger feathers.
