Posted August 5, 200718 yr Hey, my budgie is kinda crazy! When my budgie got bored as his companian was in her nesting box taking care of a bub he decided he didnt want to stay in his cage. frequently he would squeeze through the bars of the cage and fly around the room. This became a bit of a problem as he wasnt very tame and so didnt let me pick him up. i was on holiday so my brother was taking care of the birds. he uncovered them one morning and he wasnt in the cage! he searched the house and found him behind the blinds in my parents bedroom! The bird doesnt escape very often anymore and i think that is because he has 3 friends to keep him company! Sam :ygbudgie: Edited August 5, 200718 yr by Sammy94
August 5, 200718 yr Seems to me, you have bought a cage with the wrong size bar spacing for a budgie.
August 5, 200718 yr Yep and I would suggest getting a cage that is spaced for a budgie because one he does it again he will teach them all do to it.. budgie see budgie do.
August 5, 200718 yr l agree . when l first got my budgies last year . l didn't know much about budgie care , l had a cocktiel cage for them with a bar spacing of more then 1/2" . my sister and her roomates had this cage with 2 budgies in it but they both past away in 2004 . so l asked them if they are going to get any birds in the near future , if not l would love to have their cage . they didn't want to get any more birds ( they where never really into birds , they got the birds and cage for free thru our church bullitin ) .when l got my budgies they would sometimes squeeze right thru those bars , until l found this forum and one of the members pointed out that l needed to get another cage that had a smaller bar spacing . since l changed their cage , now they cannot escape thru the bars anymore
