Disaster In The Baby Aviary

Featured Replies

Hi Splat, I am glad the vet is in control and that the Chemist is helping too. I hope it is only a case of Cocci and that the birds respond. I'll keep an eye on this topic. All the best.

So sorry to hear that splat  Hope everything gets sorted out .

Hope you are okay

UPDATE REPORT: Birds are looking good at this stage, there are about 4 that look iffy, but it is hard to tell because they are going through their 1st molt and it is hard on them, I don't remember the babies looking this bad last year.

Any way I should know what's going on by the end of the week end. :)

They are still under the vets care and on Meds. :ausb:

Thank you everyone for caring it has been a great help while going through this. :)

Glad to see you on the right side of the problem. Any word on what is was or what could prevent it?

No Daz, I took over some droppings off the ones that look a bit iffy and some off the ones in the flight and still nothing conclusive. Needs a dead one for the autopsy but I am not going to sacrafice one yet till I know for sure it is going to die.

So he wants me to continue with the trimidine treatmeant. Then another test if still showing signs of illness. :)

At the moment they are on there 3 day break and I start again tomorrow for another 5 days. That must be the cycle for the coccidiosis. :ausb: :)

coccidiosis is a full course. Karen can tell you about that. What is trimidine? Is it an antibiotic or a fungicide?

I'll goggle it to see what is comes up with.

It's a sulphure base Antibiotic.Information on it.

Thanks Guys, keep you all informed ^_^

how terrible and sad to see your young ones die so early in life , Hugs

frisky

Very sad to read of your troubles.

I completely understand what you are going through.

I lost alot of birds in 03/04 to Megabacteriosis and in January this year I lost a bunch more to Psittacosis.

My fingers are crossed for you that things continue to look up.

How are things splat?

UPDATE: Well I gave the birds their last dose of Trimidine, it has been 2 weeks and 2 days since the last bird died, have had some in hospital cages looking crook but now they are in isolation cages.

All birds are looking fine at this stage, so I have my fingers crossed that I have fixed the problem.

The vet adviced me to start then on apple cider vinigar in their water as this fights off lots of things. I use to give to my horse when I had him.

But still watching closely

Thats great to hear. I use Apple Cider vinegar at a cup cap per litre of water.

Daz the vet told me 10ml to 1 litre of water. Is that about the same as you, do you give it to all the birds including the breeding ones?
