Posted July 31, 200717 yr Hey Everyone! Hope your all well.I love the new style website. My chicks have really grown lately and I'd love some help identifying them. The mother started pushing them out of the nest even tho the youngest is only just three weeks. She got mad when they came back in. i think she wantedto lay again. So I have put her back out in the avairy and left dad with the chicks. I hope i did the right thing. Here is baby one four weeks and just out of the nest but not flying yet. Decent- normal blue Baby number Two Gershio-YF2 reccessive pied cobalt blue Baby number three Ip- I dont know what sort this is?? any ideas? Next is Mellow-YF2 spangle cobalt.. but the marking are very very pale. And the little one is a YF2 reccessive pied but it has brown markings on the wings I can't figure out why either neither parent had this colour marking. what is it called? His name is Pip Also if you have any ideas on the sex of the babies let me know. But i think they may be too young to tell yet. One last photo my gorgeous niece giving kisses to Gershio
July 31, 200717 yr 1. Normal Cobalt 2. YF cobalt recessive pied 3. hard to tell with the way you are holding him/her (at least for me) 4. YF cobalt clearwing 5. YF Cinnamon recessive pied and the male must be split for cinnamon so that in fact would be a female these are my answers but can be changed as for the sexes I will let others who can sex them early on do that what were the parents again can you post them that helps in identifying mutation
August 1, 200717 yr Author Thanks Elly The mother is a YF2 spangle cobalt The father is a cobalt recessive pied So I was very surprised with the cin on the wings
August 1, 200717 yr the dad is split for cinnamon that is how you got that and you can write that down in your breeding book, this chick is a hen.
August 2, 200717 yr Author mm i was planning on selling some of them because its allot of yellow. But I just can't seem to part with any of them! Elly-thanks for that. I found that the fathers sister is cinn. too. Any IDeas what number three[ip] is? Its like a recessive pied but it has no blue. It had plum eyes as a chick
August 2, 200717 yr can you get a better picture of 3 you said it had plum eyes and now they are dark check and see if you can see any cinnamon marking because that is what happens with a cinnamon bird
